Reece Brett Writer

Passions drive Reece Brett. According to her sister, Reece has been writing since she could “hold a crayon” and she always had her “nose buried in a book.” These two passions led to a writing career. While waiting in line, waiting in a restaurant or evenin a dentist’s office, she entertains herself creating imaginary life stories for those around her. These become ideas for her contemporary novels. The interactions between friends, lovers and families have always fascinated her.

SAFE DISTANCE, her newest book, is available. Reece has also published Stranger to Love, Holiday Magic: An Irish Romance and If You Dare.

Monday Musings  Reece will  share her ideas about a writers’ world, her thoughts on recent events, or a short selection from Safe Distance.  Followers are welcome to leave comments or questions for the author.

Who writes a novel with Covid as background?

Covid-19 brings back memories of isolation, anxiety and stress. No hugs, no coffee chats, no meetings, no parties. Yellow signs on walls and floors reminded us over and over “keep a safe Distance.” Our lives have changed and we have moved on, but Covid left its stamp on our memories and lifestyles. Personally, the isolation…

Safe Distance

Chapter one “Easy Sophie.” Despite Teagan’s slow movements, the cat hissed and backed into the further corner of the cattery.  “I think you have babies coming so you’re going to have to let me touch you eventually.” She stroked her own belly.  Her barn was eerily dark and quiet. Wind rattled the old square window…

“Keep a Safe Distance”, a mantra during the pandemic, decorated the floors in stores and pharmacies as well as  infiltrated our conversations.  A Safe Distance  could prevent contracting the virus, but would keeping a safe distance prevent Teagan O’Rourke and Ben Cornish from falling in love? Separated by a door, Teagan O’Rourke and Ben Cornish share family stories, listen to music , read books , brainstorm ideas for  futurecareers and fall in love. When the door opens and their pasts andtheir families rush through, will Teagan and Ben’s developing loveand their dreams for the future survive?

“Two strangers through thrown together (Teagan and Ben) help each other to survive and they fall in love during a life-changing series of events. They live in a small house and communicate through a closed door.  Beautifully written.  This was the first Reece Brett novel I’ve read  and have since ordered Stranger to Love and Levels of Truth.”

The warmth of their connection was immediate,
but would it be enough to keep her with him? Life doesn’t always follow an expected path. Caroline hadn’t known the house in New Jersey even existed until she
inherited it. All she wanted was to learn its history and discover the truth of her own past in the process. Then she’d return to Seattle. When the mystical “Larkin’s touch” means she’ll be running a bookstore for a while instead, she finds herself in the midst of some of the most interesting people she’s ever known — especially David. Unlike any of the CEOs or lawyers she’s known, “hottie” David Montgomery just happens to be a bookworm, kayak expert–and he values friendship and family. The connection between him and Caroline grows, but whenever he tries to get closer, life pulls her farther away. How far should one be willing to go for a shot at real love?

Losing her past was the start of…everything.

Mago Saunders has escaped.  After testifying against her abusive criminal of an ex-husband.  Marlo has taken away her young son to the safety of a quiet cottage tucked away in a cove by the sea in Maine. For the first time in her life, she’s face to face with tranquility …and desire.  Now, the man she wants most is the one man she can least risk having at her side.

Small town police chief, Brent O’Neill, knows fear and need when he sees them. But the barriers Marlo has built around her tell him the unknowns surrounding her past are far beyond what he’s seen before. He’ll do everything in his power to make her believe in him and the healing power of  Trenton, Maine.    He’ll do everything to show he loves her.
